The amount stood at 7 billion euros (1.0 percent of GDP) in 2015. Since 2015, the Netherlands has started to earn more from meat production and trade. At 8.7 billion euros, the entire Dutch meat chain accounts for 1.1 percent of Dutch GDP and 1.3 percent of total employment in the Netherlands (converted to 98 thousand full-time jobs). In 2019, the Netherlands earned 8.7 billion euros from total meat sales, of which 5.2 billion euros through exports and 3.5 billion euros through domestic sales. The production of and trade in meat generates value added for the Dutch economy.
